Our 6-pin adapters for heavy duty vehicles circa mid 1990's to early 2000's are no longer available. Instead you need to order a 9-pin adapter along with a 6-pin to 9-pin converter cable/connector. The 9-Pin Adapter plugs into the 9-Pin to 6-Pin connector which in turn plugs into the 6-Pin diagnostic port. Alternatively you can replace your diagnostic connector with a 9-pin connector.
You first need to order one of our Adapters below:
9-Pin J1939/J1708 Bluetooth Adapters
And then, with a separate vendor order, one of the connectors below:
Important App Note - The BlueFire App defaults to connecting to a J1939 data bus. You must change this in Settings to 'Connect to a J1708 Data Bus'.
DIY Option
Now,if you're good at electronics and have easy access to the diagnostic connector, you can replace it with a 9-pin connector, in which case you will not need the 9-pin to 6-pin connector. This requires the following J1939 kit and the pinouts for J1708 and J1939. Just one caveat though. You do void the adapter warranty if you get the power wires crossed and short out the adapter.
And here's a link to a 9-pin to 6-pin connector cable with the pinouts you need to make your own. If you have a 12-pin diagnostic connector, the site has J1708 pinouts for that.
