I can't get my adapter to plug in. It doesn't seem like a liking ring issue as the ring is still loose but I can not push the adapter in enough to engage the ring. It almost seems like the key on the center pin is not going in. Has this happen to anyone else? Looking for help. Scott Young Scott.young413@gmail.comCell 207 671 1012 Thanks

Hi Mark, please help. I have a 2018 with the 9 pin green adapter. As I stated above, the 3 nipples are not the problem. I filed them down as you asked but it did not help. I can't get the adapter to plug in at all so the lock ring is still way away from making contact, it's still floppy loose. My Nexas code reader plugs in fine. There are small and large pins on any adapter. If you hold your adapter with the center pin key way straight up (12 O'clock), the pin above the center pin (12 O'clock)is large and the pin below the center pin (6 O'clock) is also large. The pin above the center pin (12 O'clock) has to be small not large and that is why it won't plug in. By chance did you get a bad batch? I couldn't figure out how to send pictures but I could email them to you if you email me. Scott.young413@gmail.com Thank you in a dance for your help. Scott

It sounds like you're trying to connect a black adapter into a green diagnostic port. If so, that won't work. Green will plug into black but black will not plug into green. That was decided by Deutsch when the 500K data bus was introduced to keep a 250K adapter from plugging into a 500K port. It actually is just a marketing ploy to force you to use the 'more expensive' green connector since the adapter actually detects the bus speed and adjusts accordingly. You can upgrade your black adapter to a green one from our store - https://bluefire-llc.com/store/upgrades
