I used the system successfully 10 days ago without any issues. When connecting the system and preparing to leave in our RV this morning, I notice that my iPad was updating the BlueFire app.
It will no longer connect to the BlueFire via Bluetooth...just says "Discovering".

Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix?

My Application is 9.6.1 with a date of 8/29/2022 4:34 PM

Adapter
Firmware 2.21.0
Hardware 3.2.0-9-Pin
Serial No. B4EE1104D0E

Thank you!

Two adapters, two iPad minis (I believe in spares)
I have the same problem as you. Just initial fiddling a few minutes ago, I got the spare iPad to connect to the spare adapter. The only thing I did was remove and redownload the program from the Apple App Store. Since this program/app has been working flawlessly for over a year, I know have to "relearn" all the ins an outs, like custom dashes, sending and receiving custom dashes, all the settings, etc. Downloading the new version of the app seemed cause the problem, deleting and reloading the app "seems" to have fixed the problem, but I am now back to square one.

Sorry for the babbling, will calm down and take a look tomorrow and try to figure out what is going on. Very frustrating to try to work with a Windows programmer and a Windows program on an Apple, but it is a GREAT PROGRAM, but hard for this old man to figure out, very labor intensive and Mark's support is also a little confusing.

I did the same... saved my custom dash, deleted the app from the iPad then reloaded the app and reloaded the custom dash.

The app attaches to the adapter now, however, the app crashes each time I press the Fill Up icon indicating I just filled the tanks.
Also found that when I select the option to calculate the fuel usage, the dash does not display fuel level percent, fuel gallons remaining, etc.... just N/A in these fuel related text gauges.

Will play around with it some more tomorrow. Very frustrating since it was working GREAT for a few trips then this following an app update...???

I, too, have now got my spare adapter to talk to the backup iPad. I figured mine out at about 3:00AM this morning, so couldn't start the motorhome to fully check it out. I will do that a little later this morning, when kids are screaming and dogs are barking and will then address the primary iPad "nailed" to the dash.

I was still a little confused about where the custom dashes were being stored, both on my iPad and where in the BlueFire app. Think I got that figured out now. This was NOT the fault of the App nor the iPad, just ignorance on my part. But, again, I think I now have a handle on that (for now).

To be fair to Mark, the whole problem of losing comm with the adapter may not have been just the update to his App, but a combination of that update and my iPad update to iPadOS 15.6.1. AND the fact that I haven't really used the program since May.

Either way, there is a work around, so all is right with my world for now. I have been using BlueFire for over a year with no problems, that's why I was so frustrated when this problem came along. I'm spoiled by Apple and MAC stuff and always start kicking and screaming when forced back into the "PC World" and it's vagaries.
I'm thankful for Mark doing all the heavy lifting to make a DOS/Windows app do it's magic on iPads, etc.

Mark has got the best program out there for designing and making my own instrument board. It is not his fault that I don't stay on top of the App because it has proven to be pretty solid and invisible, maintenance-wise.

Agree with your comment regarding Mark and having the best product out there. Is the reason we joined the customer community and purchased our BlueFire this past spring. Am very confident that this will get resolved.
We ordered a backup adapter last night (one of the new versions that notes compatibility with apple).

AH, the 4.1 adapter, I assume, I am going to get in touch as both my adapters are 3.somethings, and I think he has a special about upgrading the firmware and getting the 4.1 hardware at the same time.

Hi,

I'm a new user and new to the forum. When I got my Bluefire I was quite excited about all the vehicle information it would provide for me. Unfortunately, it didn't work as one would expect from today's technology. I reached out to Mark, and he understood my problems and set out to modify the software to correct the issues I was experiencing. Mark created 7 different Beta programs in his efforts to resolve the issues with Android tablets. Wednesday (9/7/22) afternoon, Mark released the updated software which is available for download at the different App stores. The new software is 9.6.3.

I have tested the new version in my RV while it was sitting in storage, and I am very pleased with it. The software on my Android 11 tablet connected quickly to the 3.1 adapter and transfer the RV information and data without a hitch. I checked the signal strength, and it was in the good range from 3' away. Like I said, I'm new, so I was excited about how well the Dash I created worked. A whole lot of information just a glance away.

Overall, while I was let down that BlueFire didn't work right out of the box, I am very impressed with Mark's efforts to improve his product across all the different platforms. I guess my one suggestion to users would be to turn off your device's auto update feature. When your device notifies you of a BlueFire update, check in with the forum and see how the update is working before becoming a beta tester. :)
