Mark, Any idea about HOW LONG this update should take? I have my BF dongle connected to my desktop and have downloaded and installed the 'update firmware' program - all went well as far as I could tell.. Now have started the update process .. some 25 minutes ago and it's still going. How long should I wait and what should I do if it NEVER completes the process?

OK.. never mind. I finally figured out there was a hidden window underneath. I got it going and it then updated pretty quickly.

I had to find a PC that had the right version. Connected it, chose 6 pin rectangle for the chip (?) on top. Message returned indicated that the "device was not in Device Manager. Check your USB connection."
Thinking that maybe the cable was 'charge only', I found two others to try and got the same message. Same message when I used the 6 pin square as well.
thoughts?
Phil

Follow the instructions (exactly) to install the device driver for the adapter.

Downloaded and executed firm loader. Instructions come up. Blinks nice blue lights. I have a newer rig and bought my adapter a year ago, so I selected 9 pin square. Bluetooth shows a BlueFire LE device after an installation. But when I try to update, I get “Adapter is not in device manager. Check your USB connection.” The device does not show up on “My PC” where other USB devices would display. This is probably a Windows error on my part, but I am stuck.

Make sure you're using a data USB cable and not just a power one. If the adapter is still not found in device manager, then you'll need to send it in for an update. Check the updates to see what's new first though.

Thank you! We had tried an assortment of cables when I finally remember the one I use for my CD drive. That one worked! I have added the firmware device driver and loaded the new firmware successfully. Thanks.

Although Mark continues to say "follow the instructions EXACTLY", in many cases that cannot be done. The message you get from Windows (the ones written in the INSTRUCTIONS) say DIFFERENT things depending on exactly WHICH VERSION of windows you are using. I had to try about 6 times, making a thorough analysis of what the instructions were trying to tell me to look for .. regardless of what the message EXACTLY said and I FINALLY got the proper sequence to have it work. If I have to update again, I'll have to figure out out again since I failed to actually WRITE DOWN *MY* exact sequence, but I feel that it'll probably be a bit easier next time since I will be looking for something that "might mean" (almost) exactly what the instructions say. There was at least one instruction that just had NO RELATION to what I was seeing after 'doing the things' the instructions told me to do. You have to GUESS and try again.
Good luck, Steve

You do need to be logged into Windows as an Administrator to install the driver and for 'Cerb-Family' to show up in Device Manager.

Hello,
We have followed these instructions, however your app says in red lettering 'Incompatible Adapter. Firmware update was cancelled.
Is there a way to get around this? Do we need a previous version of the firmware or an older version of the driver?

I am unable to get the update to recognize my adapter as BLE. It only gives the option for a classic adapter. All previous updates were BLE, so I don't know why it doesn't see it. Once the update ran, it blinks blue for a minute, then blinks red until power is removed. I tried to revert to the previous version, but no luck. Do I need to send it in? email: drparilla (at) gmail.com Edited by user Wednesday, July 13, 2022 6:08:48 PM(UTC)

The latest Firmware Update version is 4.0.5. Try that if not already installed. And also make sure you have your computer's Bluetooth turned on. Let me know if this works.
