I believe the miles to go is based on the current trip mileage, but could be wrong on this. Whatever the methodology, the data makes no sense. I started a trip with this added to the dashboard, with about 80 gallons of fuel on board and the long term fuel usage at 8.3 MPG. The reading after 10 minutes of travel was a range of about 220 miles. After 30 minutes of travel, it was about 400 miles to empty. It finally peaked at about 550 miles to empty and then finally started going down. The conclusion from the display is that somehow I was adding fuel to the tank as I was driving.

The miles to go display, if not based on the ECU miles per gallon, should at least be based on a reasonable mileage integration over say the last 1000 miles or some other number but not reset to 0 MPG based on starting a new trip. Since all of my trips start with starting the engine and idling while the air builds up, and then I usually let the engine idle while I am connecting the Jeep, I am going to have a lot of 0 MPG data built up and then usually with stop and go driving until I get onto an open road, the mileage indicator is clearly not going to represent a real average driving situation. Using a number with such a short term influence of just starting out is not a useful indication of miles to go and I have never seen another vehicle display use such a short term average, baring some that might have a manual reset on the display.

Have added a note for the next release to work on this.
