Since the last update, my fuel economy is showing 33.4 MPG, which would be really cool on a Diesel that gets a little over 8 MPG. Sometimes the DTE reading is relative OK at 800+ miles to empty when I fill with 100 gallons. Then today with about 70 gallons remaining i was showing 2.29 miles to empty. Looks like the whole mileage think is kaput. The fuel used tends to be about right as the tank gets used but the other two readings are bonkers now. Previously they appeared to be OK.

Try resetting the ECM data (Settings/Reset ECM Data) and see if that helps.

OK. Reset and now we'll see when I drive again later this week. Thanks.

I didn't expect it but resetting the ECM data reset the fuel level (and therefore the MTE) but did not affect the average fuel economy. It's still stuck at around 32 MPG. It seems to be slowly going down but it will take it a long time to get back around 8.3 where it was.

When I switched from a Scangauge to Bluefire, my average fuel economy was showing 8.1 and that is what showed on the Bluefire unit when I got it installed. Since then, we have been on several long trips and the average has never changed from 8.1. Is there any update on how to fix this?

Send me the App's event log again and I'll take another look. Let me know when you have sent me the event log so I know to look for it.

I'd be happy to send the log files, but where are they? If I go to the logging function, it looks like I have to set it up to start logging anything, which I haven't done.

By the way, the trip data shows a reasonable 8.82 MPG for the last trip.

Found it. You have an odometer offset of 26248.6 which wasn't being applied when calculating your average fuel economy. So the actual engine distance is 9269.21 (35517.81-26248.6) which divided by your fuel used (1127.75) is 8.22 mpg.

This will be fixed in the next release which may not be for a few weeks or so. You could temporarily fix it by setting a fuel used offset that would mathematically bring your mpg to 8.22.

Just curious, did you swap out your engine or your engine ECM?

Interesting because I had an odometer offset all the time and this problem showed up with the last upgrade. I can add the fuel offset to compensate, but will that get messed up with the next release? From this I presume that the fuel MPG never resets in any way or creates any kind of long term running average. The cars that I have had with this feature all had some form of averaging incorporated into the algorithm.

Both Odometer and Fuel Used offsets will be factored in the calculation. The engine ECM also computes Average Fuel Economy but if you check to calculate fuel levels, the App uses Odometer and Fuel Used rather than what the ECM shows. The previous releases where it was working for you was not doing the Odometer/Fuel Used calculation, just using the ECM value. The Drive page shows both.

Maybe you can give an explanation as to what is going on with the fuel economy calculations. I adjusted the fuel used and now the drive page shows an average fuel economy of 8.2 mpg. And a calc avg fuel econ of 11.1 mpg. The dash is showing the 11.1 mpg number. (instant is 0 since the engine isn't running). What are the calculations and why would they be different? Thanks.

The Drive page shows 'Average Fuel Econ' from the engine ECM and 'Calc Avg Fuel Econ' from the Distance/Fuel Used calculation.

Reset the ECM data (Settings/Reset ECM Data) and that should do it.

I reset the ECM Data and it still shows 8.1 for average but have not driven it yet.

What happens if you connect to the adapter and turn the ignition key on? If it still shows 8.1, send me a pic of the App page.

First just in the App I reset the ECU, then went to the dash and it still said 8.1. I then closed the app and restarted it and once connected turned the key on but did not start and it still said 8.1. Then I proceeded to start the engine and waited for all the gauges to start up and it still said 8.1. I can go do it again if you need a pictures
